As a second-division club they reached the DFB-Pokal final in 1994/95. Although they lost 3–0 to Mönchengladbach, it was then the biggest success in club history and one two coaches can claim: Eckhard Krautzun, who was dismissed shortly before the semi-final, and Gerd Roggensack, who led the side to Berlin after a 1–0 in Cologne.
